We invite all ArtsWorcester members to participate in E Pluribus Unum, an
open-member exhibit in collaboration with the Fitchburg Art Museum.
This year’s theme seeks work that explores the the historic motto of our nation—out of many, one. Artwork is a form of accumulation, in which many small objects—bits
of clay, repeated mark-making, fibers, pixels—form a single mass. A composition is often many as one: a
bouquet of flowers in a still-life, faces in a crowd. Art forms that involve mechanical reproduction and seriality- think video, contact sheets, or print-making—also create a unified
experience from multiple images. We open the doors for you to select or make a
work in which the many become one.
Members may include one work of original art in this exhibit, opening November 17, 2017, at the Aurora Gallery. Koch Curatorial Fellow Lauren Szumita will then select ten works for exhibition at the Fitchburg Art
Museum in the summer of 2018.
For your inspiration, ten works from FAM’s permanent collection are on display at the Aurora and on our Flickr page, and are available for inspiration. Please register your artwork here prior to November 8.
